Glazing trends over the years have changed in a number of ways, one thing we believe will stick around for a long time is large expanses of glass. This is where the increasingly popular ‘picture window’ comes into play. Here a large fixed window enables you to frame your view perfectly in the colour and material of your choice.
Below one of our installers Sam has photographed his installation to show you exactly what is involved.
Firstly the brickwork is levelled up ready for the cill to be fitted (note these types of windows can be fitted with or without cill a depending on your desired design but we would recommend using one).
Once the cill has been installed the levels are checked again and will be throughout the process.
To ensure our installation is water tight silicone is applied inside the ends of the cill so there is no way of water finding it’s way into your home and causing any damp issues.
The frames position was agreed with the builder upon survey and has been sat back from the brickwork by 30mm.
As the frame is installed it is again levelled to ensure that the window will be installed perfectly square. Not only is this vital to the installation but it also enables for a pristine professional finish upon completion.
Once the glass is installed and the window has been gasketed the next step is to seal up. In this case you can see a colour coded silicone has been used for a seamless finish. I am sure you will agree the finished product looks stunning!
