The original wood windows and doors didn’t make the most of this home, with its prominent wood vaulted ceiling and connection to the river, boat mooring and south-facing garden. Our customers had specific requirements for their property renovation project, and HBD Systems met their needs exactly.
The owners of this chalet-style riverside home wanted to use a company that specialised in aluminium. By offering one of the largest aluminium window and door collections in Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas, we were confident in providing the required doors and windows.
Before deciding what doors and windows to choose, the client also wanted to test and try out the doors. Our substantial showroom showcases the best brands, but for the owner of this home, it was essential they were able to touch, feel and try out the doors. Also important to them was choosing doors that provided a good user experience as they would be used daily. Safety, security and energy-saving were also important features and the right aesthetics. The Schüco ASS 70 FD product was chosen for their bifold doors, alongside a Solidor front door and Origin aluminium windows.

With top-end engineering and design, Schüco bifold doors were the ideal choice, providing everything our customer needed for their home.
First is their exemplary quality, using only the best possible components and providing a quiet, light and smooth opening action. Designed as a three panel door set in a matt white colour finish, the doors come with slime 120mm mullion sightlines and a modern look throughout. The doors neatly fold and stack on one side of the opening. On the left-hand side, the doors have the functional traffic door. A traffic door on a bifold allows easy garden access and entry and works just like any regular door without having to fold all the panels back every time.

Origin OW-80 aluminium windows
The original single-glazed windows needed replacing, and our client wanted better insulated, secure windows that helped lower their energy bills. But the new windows also had to be in keeping with the unique style of the house. Origin’s flush casement windows were the perfect solution here, also triple glazed for the best U-Values and window energy ratings.
With superior insulation within the premium-grade aluminium and also in a white matt finish, Origin windows are perfectly designed for this character property, with their unique flush casement design inside and out. Designed as outward-opening top-hung windows, they come with the familiar Yale brand of multipoint locking system and stylish white handles.
These windows’ superb styling and quality create balanced sightlines, with fixed panels having near-identical sightlines to the opening vents.
To the main bedroom and the front door, our Solidor composite door provides traditional styling with all the quality of a real wood door but none of the maintenance.
